COLUMBIA CITY – A local architect has filed a land-use application with the city to demolish the old Angie’s building and replace it with a two-story restaurant/office space.

Once named one of Seattle’s 10 most intimidating dive bars, Angie’s had been a south-end establishment for decades when it closed in 2010 after the state Liquor Control Board refused to renew its liquor license.

At the time, an assistant Seattle City Attorney said Angie’s “endanger[ed] public safety and community welfare.”

Kevin Broderick filed the application last week asking for permission to raze the current building located at 4915 Rainier Avenue South and replace it with a 2-story structure containing 2,697-square feet of restaurant
space with 2,960-square feet of office above. No parking has been proposed.
