The driver of a red Volkswagon bug lost control and ended up in Lake Washington near Seward Park late this afternoon.

Video from AIR4 showed the car almost entirely submerged off the shore with the windshield wipers still running.

Rescue crews were called to the scene at Lake Washington Blvd near South Hudson Street, but we’re told the woman driving the car were rescued by private boat.

Streets in the area were closed for a time.

It is unclear exactly what happened that resulted in the driver losing control and the car landing in the lake.
