Celebrate Community With 20th Annual Rainier Valley Heritage Parade

RAINIER VALLEY – The Rainier Valley Chamber of Commerce is gearing up to host the 20th annual Rainier Heritage Parade on Sat., Aug. 18, when Rainier Avenue South from South Orcas to Alaska Street will be closed to car traffic between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Exciting activities are already in the works for this free event including Columbia City Art Gallery’s Art in the Alley from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., ‘Bike Lane’ hosted by Bike Works and Detective Cookie’s youth chess games.

As many as 75 different groups are expected to participate. Last year’s parade winners included Grupo Ameyatonal Aztec Dance Group (Most Creative), the Washington Diamonds Drill Team and Lottie’s Lounge/Andaluz (Most Community Spirit) and Pacific Northwest Drum Line (Best Overall Performance).
