Columbia City Gallery Presents Two New Exhibits: “Contained” & “The Book as Art”

Columbia City Gallery presents two new exhibits Wed., Nov. 17 through January 9, 2011.

“The Book as Art: Hand2Hand” is in the Guest Gallery. Curated by MalPina Chan, the exhibit features handmade books by a host of international and local artists with movable parts intended to be touched by viewers.

Meanwhile, “Contained”, an exhibit featuring gallery member artists and jewelers, is in the Main Gallery. The new themed work is intended to reflect “certain physical and psychological boundaries,” says exhibiting artist Lori Duckstein.

The Book as Art: Hand2Hand Artists: Amandine Nabarra-Piomelli, Betsy Best-Spadaro, Patricia Chupa, Susan Collard, Debra Di Blasi, Deborah Greenwood, Lucia Harrison, Ruth Hayes, Lisa Hasegawa, Marie Hassett, Margery Hellmann, Lisa McGarry, Chandler O’Leary, Linda Piacentini-Yaple, Lisa Beth Robinson, Laura Russell, Sharon A. Sharp, Judy Shintani, Fruma Shrensel, Jana Sim, Jessica Spring, Kevin Steele, Bonnie Norman Thompson and Ellen Ziegler

Columbia City Gallery Member Artists Featured: Lori Duckstein, Monad Elohim, Ellen Hochberg, Elinor Maroney, Hannah Voss and Olivia Zapata. This exhibit also highlights the work of our member jewelers Kathyrn Darner Booze, William Booze, Carol Hershman and Petrus Korver.

The Artists’ Reception for both exhibits is on Sat., Nov. 20, from 5 to 8 pm and is free and open to the public. Columbia City Gallery is located at 4864 Rainier Ave. S.
