CBO on “Councilman Harrell to Host Rainier Valley Public Safety Meeting”:

We need to be agitating for better law enforcement, not holding hands with the goddamn gangbangers.

Most of the crimes we see in the RV (especially those around the light rail stations) are crimes of opportunity; they will continue so long as they can get away with it. The fact that we still don’t have community policing and regular familiar faces walking beats in the neighborhoods boggles my f’ing mind.

Volunteering at the boys and girls club or as a big brother or sister is a wonderful idea and an excellent way to give back to the community. God knows there are plenty of local kids that can use a positive adult influence in their life. But that is not going to magically stop Ipods from getting snatched at Columbia City station.

The dialogue that occurs here between friends, neighbors and engaged citizens is one of the features that makes your RVP such a valuable community resource. Your RVP does not necessarily endorse the opinions expressed in the Comment of the Week.
