Dunlap Man Robbed at Gunpoint in His Front Yard

DUNLAP – There were no injuries or arrests on Saturday afternoon when a man was robbed at gunpoint in his front yard.

Police say it was shortly after 4:30 pm when the man was confronted by the suspect in the  7900 block of 45th Avenue South in the Dunlap neighborhood in Southeast Seattle.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was in his front yard when he was approached by an adult male suspect,” wrote Seattle Police Department spokesman Jeff Kappel. “The suspect demanded the victim’s cell phone [then] lifted his shirt and showed the victim a handgun in his waistband.”

He said the victim gave up his cell phone and the suspect took off running. The victim then gave chase until the suspect turned and pointed the gun at him, at which point he stopped the pursuit.

The suspect ran to a dark green vehicle with no rear license plate, possibly a Honda, and fled in the vehicle.

The suspect is described as an Asian male, 18 to 21 years old, wearing a black, blue and white beanie, a blue hooded sweatshirt, khaki pants and blue Adidas.

An extensive area check was unsuccessful and the suspect and his vehicle remain at large.

Anyone with information about the suspect or this incident is asked to call 911.
