Former NBA Star Kevin Johnson to Speak at Franklin High, Mt. Zion Baptist Church Today

Former NBA star and Mayor of Sacramento Kevin Johnson is in Seattle today to speak at Franklin High School in Mt. Baker at 1:30 p.m. and Mount Zion Baptist Church in the Central District at 7 p.m.

Mayor Johnson will speak to scholar-athletes at Franklin High School about the importance of education and public service in a student athlete’s life. In the evening, the mayor will speak to a diverse group of local students, parents and community leaders about how communities can make a difference in their schools and help all students have the opportunity to attend college. Kevin Johnson is the Mayor of Sacramento, California and Founder of St. HOPE Public Schools, which helps inner city kids get to college through community engagement, quality educational opportunities, and after-school programs.

    Seriously though, I hope that Mr Johnson’s speech is inspirational, and encourages kids to take up public service.

  2. I couldn’t stand this guy when he was in the NBA, I had no idea he became Mayor of Sacramento. I wonder if he still whines as much in the mayor’s office as he did on the BB court
