RAINIER BEACH – The Rainier Beach Urban Farm has received a City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods grant to engage the community in a design review process of the project.
“This process will enable us to leverage the farm, food and community resources to help revitalize the Rainier Beach neighborhood,” said Meghan Pinch, Friends of Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands spokesperson. “We will be having a series of three community design meetings, to shape a vision for farm programs and infrastructure. These meetings will determine what programs should take priority at the farm, and drive site improvement decisions which will best support farm programs.”
The first meeting is scheduled for Tues., June 19, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the farm. Food will be provided by a local Rainier Valley restaurant, and translation services are available as needed.
The next two meetings are planned for Sat., July 28, and Thur., Sept. 13, 2012.
