Live From the 19th Annual Rainier Valley Heritage Parade & Summer Streets Festival!

2 pm: After the parade, Mayor Mike McGinn helped “open” Rainier Avenue to foot traffic for the Summer Streets part of the event that was organized by the Seattle Department of Transportation.

2:30 pm: The parade was incredible! More than a thousand spectators lined the streets on one of the most beautiful days of the year to cheer on nearly 70 entries.

Winners include Grupo Ameyatonal Aztec Dance Group (Most Creative), the Washington Diamonds Drill Team and Lottie’s Lounge/Andaluz (Most Community Spirit) and Pacific Northwest Drum Line (Best Overall Performance). Congratulations to this year’s winners and thank you tro everyone who participated in the 19th annual Rainier Valley Heritage Parade and Summer Streets Party!

11:10 am: Or not… A few last minute changes to the parade line-up… Nearly 70 entries! Largest Rainier Valley Heritage Parade EVER!

11 am: Rainier Chamber Executive Director Susan Davis just gave the word: “Start the parade!”

10:45 am: Excitement is building as hundreds gather to watch the 19th annual Rainier Valley Heritage Parade on Rainier Ave. S. in Columbia City.
