GENESEE – A female passenger was shot by a person in another vehicle Tuesday in the Genesee neighborhood, according to the Seattle Police Department.

Police say the woman was stopped in traffic with a male friend at Rainier Avenue South and South Genesee around 7:30 p.m., when another car pulled up behind them and opened fire.

The woman and her friend ducked down to avoid the gunfire, which shattered the car’s windows, but the car then pulled up next to them and continued shooting, striking the woman in the wrist, according to police.

When the shooters drove away, the man dropped the woman off Swedish Hospital on First Hill, according to police.

Gang detectives met the woman at the hospital, but she was unable to give officers details about the gunman or the car.

Police say they weren’t able to immediately interview the woman’s friend.
