RAINIER BEACH – Seattle Police say that another pedestrian has been hit by a car while crossing Rainier Avenue South – the third in a month – and that the driver is on the run.
According to SPD spokesperson Detective Renee Witt, it was about 7:15 am Tuesday when an 18-year old male was crossing Rainier Avenue South from west to east at South Elmgrove Street when witnesses say he was hit by a white truck that may have been a Chevy.
“A northbound vehicle in the inside lane stopped to allow the pedestrian to cross,” wrote Witt. “A northbound vehicle in the outside lane did not stop and instead struck the pedestrian and left the scene without stopping to render aid and/or identify him or herself.”
She added that the victim was treated at the scene for a serious head injury and subsequently transported to Harborview Medical Center where he is in serious condition.
The hit and run vehicle was described as a white, older Chevy pickup truck, but no driver description was obtained. The investigation is on-going and anyone with information about this vehicle and or driver is asked to call 911.
