RAINIER VALLEY – The Rainier Valley Community Development Fund (RVCDF) – the organization that offers below-market-rate loans to the local business community – is gearing up for its annual meeting and 10th anniversary celebration.
Since 2006, the RVCDF has loaned more than $10.8 million to 19 small businesses and real estate developers in Rainer Valley, and it still has more than $17.2 million available to invest.
In January, the organization hired Wayne Lau as its new Executive Director. Lau was formerly Senior Vice President at Washingon First International Bank, and is a Seattle Goodwill Board Member and Past Board Chair.
Before Lau was hired, former Seattle City Councilmember Richard McIver served as Interim Executive Director for more than a year, after former Executive Director Martina Guilfoil resigned in the wake of a scandal over a shocking, profanity-laced letter was sent to a local business owner.
The event is planned for Tues., April 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Filipino Community Center (5740 MLK Jr. Way S.). Please call RVCDF Business Manager Michelle McGuire (206.722.5280 x104) if you plan to attend.
