A 3-year-old boy is in serious condition Thursday, a day after he was struck by a car while riding his “Razor” scooter in the street.
Police and medics responded to the accident, in the 3600 block of 34th Avenue South, at about 1:40 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a report of a child hit by a car.
Arriving at the scene, they found the boy in the street with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation found that the boy had been riding his scooter on the sidewalk in front of his apartment when he suddenly emerged into the street without warning from between parked vehicles.
He was hit by a car driven by a 41-year-old woman, who immediately stopped after the crash.
The woman was evaluated by a drug recognition expert. No signs of impairment were detected.
The investigation continues.
