By passing Initative 1053 by a large margin, we taxpayers in this state were telling you to hold the line on increasing taxes. We also put in an initative for audits to be performed on all government operations with the idea that the sloppy handling of taxpayer dollars would be pointed out and corrections made. I guess those responsible for reckless spending of state funds are immune to prosecution or getting fired, but we need to get right to the core of the state having a lack of income — IT IS BECAUSE OF UNCONTROLLED SPENDING. the 2/3rd majority needs to be fulfilled as the taxpayers have instructed you to do and start looking at running the states business efficiently and with less perks and waste. Laying off teachers and other government employees will not correct the problems of too many administrators, and other epensive employee benefits .
You have a tough job, but please listen to your constituents and help to stop careless spending. I’m a retired 80 year old who has paid taxes without complaint, but would like to feel that items like the $30.00 auto license fees need to be upheld without the implementation of a lot of special, local fees which bring the $30.00 fee up to $74.00.
