RAINIER VALLEY – The Silver Fork – the iconic Rainier Valley restaurant that’s been in danger of closing – has announced that they will remain open through April 2013:
To all Silver Fork customers, We want to thank all for your support, didn’t realize we were so loved. We will stay at current location until April 2013, hopefully we will relocate. Keep you posted on details, much love to all.
Many in the community were outraged recently when it was announced that the restaurant was preparing to close so Safeway could build a new gas station on the corner of Rainier Avenue South and South Charlestown Street in Mount Baker.
“We don’t need another gas station and yet another mini mart. We do need more, not fewer, family businesses,” said Luigia, local resident and RVP reader. “I shop at Safeway now, but they won’t be seeing me any more if they go through with this.”
