RAINIER VALLEY – Instead of hitting the books right away, students at Seattle Pacific University spent the first day of Autumn Quarter off-campus cleaning homeless shelters, restoring green spaces, removing graffiti, and participating in more than 30 different community service projects throughout Seattle, including the Rainier Valley.
The annual back-to-school orientation event called “CityQuest” gives new students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni the opportunity to live out SPU’s mission of “engaging the culture and changing the world.” This year, more than 800 freshman and transfer students participated.
