MT. BAKER – Officers are trying to figure out how and why a teen and his car ended up in Lake Washington Friday evening.
Just before 5:00p.m., patrol and harbor officers responded to Lake Washington Boulevard South and South Horton Street for reports of a car in the water.
When they got there they found the 19-year-old driver outside of the car and on the shore but his white Cadillac was in the lake.
Police say fortunately for the teen a handful of people on shore were able to help pull him to safety.
“There was about five people trying to pull the door open and him out, and there was about 20 people behind, pulling the car out with a tow chord,” said Courteney Charlie, who witnessed the accident.
The teen didn’t suffer any serious injuries but he was taken to Harborview for evaluation.
No one else was inside the car when it entered the lake.
