Urban Youth Chess Club to Host South-End Tournament

SOUTHEAST SEATTLE – Today, more than 100 south-end elementary school students will participate in the first school versus school chess tournament hosted by Detective Cookie’s Urban Youth Chess Club.

Detective Denise ‘Cookie’ Bouldin is a Seattle Police Department School and Community Liaison Officer who works closely with youth in the Rainier Valley and Central District. She founded ‘Det. Cookie`s Urban Youth Chess Club’ several years ago to help prevent youth violence in the Rainier Valley. She was recently featured on Seattle Voices with Eric Liu.

The tournament will take place at the Van Asselt Elementary School Library starting at 10:30 a.m.
